Entrance & Age Requirements

Men and women of various backgrounds who are physically able and willing to work with horses are welcome here and have the opportunity to learn the farrier trade. Students are not required to have a High School Diploma or GED to attend this School.

Entrance Requirements and Age Limits:

  • Ages normally range in the early-20’s to 60’s.

  • Should be persons who are physically able to perform the strenuous activities of working with, under and around horses.

  • We ask that you inform us of your limitations, health issues, disadvantages, learning and aptitude issues, etc.

We reserve the right to approve or disapprove your attendance and once you begin schooling, we will evaluate your progress within the first two weeks and discuss issues with you personally to determine whether you can mentally and/or physically complete any of the courses we offer.

Our age limit for Men AND Women is 18 and over.

Attention Parents:  We cannot be responsible for student’s activities or actions after school hours or on days off.

People 18-21 who would like to attend our school, it is recommended to visit with parents or guardians to help them make their future plans. A two-week course is a good introduction course to begin with.

Trim classes or part time attendance:
Ages under 18.  If a parent is willing to attend as an observer and they both lodge off the property, we certainly would consider their attendance for a trim class and possibly a 2-week course. Reason being is this type of work is very strenuous, could be hazardous if the person is not currently strong in their upper body, arms, hands, legs and back. We take safety for students and horses very seriously and refuse to put anyone at risk.

Please note a popular question:
