A Little Hot Shoeing

Vegas 2022

Although we were a little out of our element in the BIG city, we had the best time in Vegas supporting Bayleigh! It was so fun to be able to take our family and see the sights. We were able to attend the NFR on Bayleigh’s rookie night and watch her receive her buckle. She placed 3rd in the rounds that night. We also attended the last night and Bayleigh placed then as well and won 2nd in the average. She was one of only two barrel racers to not hit a barrel all week.

Jarvis has worked for Bayleigh since 2020. It all started with the famous yellow horse named Trigger. He is grateful that he is able to help her along the way by shoeing her horses when she is in Georgia or being able to fly to her when needed.

While there, we went to Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. We also went to Red Rock Canyon. Each of these places were beautiful and something to see.

We also got to meet a lot of the contestants such as Bayleigh Choate, Riley Webb & Josie Connor whom the boys roped with for an hour or so, Brady & Riley Minor, Cory Solomon, JD Struxness, Hunter Herrin, Tanner Brunner, Jordan Briggs, Dale Brisby, Tuff Hedeman, Chad Masters, & Donnie Gay. We also met the original cast to the John Wayne movie “Cowboys”. Most of them took a picture with the boys and signed their hats. They will never forget this experience.

We are glad to be home and back to our little farm. Until next time Vegas!

***Leg Dissection***

During the dissection, students learned the basic anatomy of the hoof and can actually see the function of each part. Once the dissection was complete, we took cross section of each part and examined then through a microscope. Thank you, Daniel Burns, for performing the dissection!

Beginning June 6th.....Change of School Days

Beginning on June 06, 2022, our school will operate Monday-Friday. Students and staff will be off on Saturdays and Sundays. Except for the change in school days, everything will stay the same. Should you have any questions, please call our office at 706-397-8909.

Katie Got Some New Cool Shoes

Today, Katie got a mighty cool pedicure! Her back feet are unhealthy with poor hoof walls and there was no way to nail a shoe on. Katie is a carriage horse for Nottingham Carriage Company in Atlanta, GA. Jarvis applied Forma Hoof today as a solution to avoid further degeneration of her hooves and hopefully allow healthy hoof growth. He was able to nail shoes on which means Katie gets to go back to work! We look forward to seeing her again in 5 weeks to see the progress.

Training for and wrestling/ swimming at nationals, army, marriage, divorce, buying a house from a nightmare seller, air cargo in combat, class V kayaking, competitive rock climbing... everything I've done, this is honestly the hardest, most rewarding, most humbling. Jarvis Bowen is an amazing wealth of knowledge and skill, and after 40+ years in the trade, is still humble enough to admit he's still learning himself.
